Teen Style Tuesday- Swimsuits in November

Hey friends! This past weekend was my bestie, Olivia’s birthday and we celebrated poolside! She has a heated pool so we suited up and jumped in! The weather was in the high 70’s with the sun out, which made it not too cold when we hopped from the pool to the jacuzzi. I had such a great time swimming for fun (I’m on swim team) and I haven’t been in an outdoor pool since Sept! My summertime sadness slipped away as we played games and horsed around. Thanks for an awesome party and happy birthday to my BFF!!!

Houndstooth in the Rain

The weather in Houston is so up and down and it seems like its impossible to look cute during a down pour. There is a rainy season in every season here in Houston so, when I had to get ready for a day of errands in the wet weather, I was so happy to find a cute and comfortable combo that would keep me dry and stylish while running around. Houndstooth is such a classic print and I adore it! I actually scored these rain boots on sale randomly at Target. I paired it with black skinny jeans and a knit sweater that kept me dry but wasn’t too hot. I threw on an oxblood colored scarf for a pop of color and to put around my shoulders if I got chilly. A perfect paring for the fickle weather in H-town.

Fashion Houston 2013 – Night 2!

Last night I attended the second night of Fashion Houston 2013. This was my first year going to the biggest fashion week in Houston, and contrasting from other runway shows like NYFW, Paris Fashion Week, etc it’s runway selections available for purchase now. Floral prints, black & white, rib and mid drift dominated the stage this year. I was so impressed with the collection of designers that showcased at the event. I was so excited to see my old favorites Rebecca Taylor and Nicole Miller and wIth much anticipation I saw the stylings of new to me designers,Cut 25 and Bibhu Mohapatra. I was also fortunate enough to be in attendance for the only men’s line to strut the stage this week, Peter Millar.

First up was Indian-American designer, Bibhu Mohapatra. The designers ready to wear collection was said to be inspired by his long time friend and ballerina. He used many bold prints o a blank white canvas. He used hot orange, pale pink, sage, black and coral in asymmetrical pleated garments within his classic skater, shift and tulip shapes. His embellished garments adorned 3D daisies a top nude canvas. Vast and beautiful.

My long time favorite, Rebecca Taylor, hit the runway after the men’s line. Jadapa and my adorable nephew, Jadan, got to personally talk with the New Zealand born designer back in October at Saks 5th Ave in Phoenix, Arizona. She told Jadapa how being a mother is extremely tiring but extremely rewarding. Funny, Jadapa and Rebecca swapped “mommy” stories (her son is the same age as Jadapa’s) instead of fashion secrets! My nephew loved her, he skipped around the clothing racks and asked about her for the rest of the day. Too sweet!

The fresh and feminine style of Rebecca Taylor‘s RTW line sported lightly colored floral patterns and reigns the crop top style trend. Rebecca incorporated 90’s street style in to her fresh and modern apparel.Taylor hit another outstanding line with this  spring collection.

Cut 25 by gorgeous designer, Yigal Arouel is cleverly named for his style and craftsmanship when making his designs. He is said to only make 25 items in a collection therefore constantly stating the phrase “cut 25”. Yigal is known world wide and is an award winning designer, is self taught and pays great attention to detail. His line is described as high fashion with day to day simplicity This was one of my favorite shows of the evening.

The night rounded out with the newest collection by legendary designer, Nicole Miller. The iconic designer is been known for her shades of black and /or bold color choices. Miller focuses her collections on the cuts of fabric ensuring a formflattering fit. Her lines which contain lounge wear to gowns has been celebrated since the 80’s. Her stylings in this RTW collection included mix matched prints and patterns, distressed pants and textured floral embellishments that only managed to add to each piece, never overpowering it. Her rebellious looks for this line have the functionality to be worn to so many types of events and can be easily dressed up or down.

Teen Style Tuesday- I Heart You

Hey guys! Sweater weather has finally rolled into town and I’m loving it! Again because I refuse to be uncomfortable during the school day, this over sized top is so comfy. Its super soft too! I was rubbing my face with the sleeve all day.  My skinny jeans are also a closet go to and I always feel super cute in my boots! I just so happen to switch my case this weekend to the cutest pink, hearts one and it matched my sweater!

So since its fall, I’m debating dying my hair back to brown and giving my ombre a back seat til summer. What do ya think? Decisions, decisions.

Featured: Fashion and Fiats

This week I was a featured blogger at the Fall, Fashion and Fiat Networking event hosted by  Helfman Fiat and The Brand Elixir. Myself and 5 other Houston Fashion Bloggers talked to guests about cool weather styling and answered questions about trends. I wore an embellished sweatshirt and dressed it up with a cobalt blue skirt and heels. I love this cozy and chic trend that was reinvented this year during NYFW.

We started the evening with lite bites and drinks. A DJ set a high energy vibe as we took in the beautiful artwork crafted by local Houston Artists, I was especially impressed with the work of  Elizabeth Cencini. Her romanticized paintings take everyday photos of real people and turns them into timeless works of art. I got a chance to talk with her and asked her what exactly was her artistic style. Elizabeth described her art as ” the way a woman is in love”. Soft lines and carefully balanced hues in each one of her pieces give her work a gentle, easy on the eyes view. I loved her take and understated changes in each of her paintings. She makes subtle changes small areas of the paintings like background and creates a piece of art that will last a lifetime.

The fiats were the stars of the night. Their sleek body and array of features really made these cars a perfect addition to the fashion themed evening. Also on display was a Fiat we were all asked to sign and the Abarth convertible was a crowd favorite. The Gucci model is tribute to how perfectly chic these cars are and obviously, is my favorite.

Scottsdale Polo Championship and Party!

November 1st marked a day of horse and rider, fall and fashion at West World in Scottsdale. As an equine and fashion lover, this event marriages my two favorite things beautifully. Being deemed “a rich man’s sport”, I am always in aww at the outfits worn to the matches. The women always look so well put together with their big hats and the dapper men are not to be over looked. Jadapa had the privilege of attending the Ferrari -Maserati themed event and fashion show after day one of the polo match. Hosted by Phoenix Fashion Week and styling by Dillard’s and My Sister’s Closet, riding boots were a big hit on the runway. Emerging Designer, Doux Belle, also made her mark pairing the outfits with her gorgeous, one of a kind hats. Another amazing show put on by the Phoenix Fashion Week team!

Teen Style Tuesday- Blk & Blu

Hey guys!! I hope you all had a super fun Halloween! Since I went all out the weekend prior with my costume, on Halloween night, my friends and I just wore subtle hippie costumes and hit a few houses for candy. Pretty low key but still a blast! So it finally cooled down and I can bust out my boots! What, what! I love boots almost as much as my TOMS. I choose a pretty monochromatic outfit so I slipped into a pair of black boots to contrast the blue hues. Pretty easy and super cute!
