The Origin of Species

Greetings from the East Coast! This shoot was a few weeks ago when Tay and I did a whirlwind trip to York Pennsylvania for my Lolo’s 89th birthday party and Chinese new Year. Many of you know that I am half Filipino and Lolo means grandfather in Tagalog (one of the languages in the Philippines). Tay hasn’t seen my Dad’s side of the family since we moved to HTX so this was a great opportunity to see the whole lot in one place.

I rarely travel on such a quick trip so I had to use my layering skills for 38 degree east coast winter weather. I found my dress over the summer on major sale at Zara. And Tay’s dress I picked up this winter with New Years in mind on account of the sparkly pocket. The dresses made it easy to layer long sleeves and thermal spanx underneath. We had to go directly from the airport to the party so we traveled in our party ensembles. The dresses were also extremely comfortable on the plane and our flight was only a little over 2 hours making for really easy travel outfits. Also because we were only there for 24 hours, we packed the bare minimum; underwear, party outfits, makeup. Layering is the number one trick to looking awesome in the cold and for traveling to cold places. That way you don’t need a big ‘ol suitcase so you don’t get hit with those crazy bag fees that some airlines charge. Such a fun trip with the Gochoco’s!!
